Rachit Chandra
We caught up with our alumnus, Rachit Chandra (GMBA’13), getting to know his success story. Rachit is currently working as the Deputy General Manager – Human Resources with Samsung Electronics. An avid traveller and a writer, Rachit is also a trained dancer and a motivational speaker. Here, Rachit talks about his fond memories at SP Jain, his career and his achievements.

Q. Could you tell us about your career at your current organisation?
I am part of the International Recruitment Team of the world’s top trusted brand – Samsung. I look after the Headquarters – South Korea & South-West Asia – hiring for Senior & Executive levels for the R&D and Sales division of Samsung.

For the R&D wing, I recruit the world’s best in class Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning/Deep learning, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality leaders from across the globe; and for the Samsung sales, I recruit expert Marketing, Branding & Product Managers. I have also hosted several networking & hiring events in USA and South-West Asian countries to build a network of top level aspirants.

I have been a key taskforce member in setting up Samsung HR Shared Services Centre for South-West Asia that now provides recruitment services to 20000+ Samsung employees in SWA region.

Q. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
5 years is a long time. I have never planned that far my life. I am a firm believer of living in the moment. I don’t intend to waste my present thinking of where I want to be 5 years from now. I am a happy-go-lucky person and staying the same is my only plan.

Q. What do you consider to be your most notable achievements in your career so far?
According to me, getting the right and timely recognition for your work is extremely important. I have been given three progressions in a span of 3.5 years. I have also got the opportunity to introduce and lead two key initiatives at Samsung R&D that focuses on industry-academia collaboration (Samsung SHISHYA) & a successfully tailored Employee on-boarding
experience program (Samsung SPARSH).

Having worked with diverse people during my two corporate stints (TCS & Samsung), I now know the strategic importance of Human Resources and understand the principle, “The people of your company are what drive its success”. This learning has inarguably been my biggest achievement so far.

Q. What are your key learnings from SP Jain that have helped lead you to where you are today?
The academic rigour, the excellent pedagogy of the faculty, my peers’ rich corporate experiences, and the intensive classroom discussions transformed my thought process and eventually gave me a clear sense of what I want to do in my life. SP Jain is carving a niche globally and I am so proud to say that I am an alumnus of this School.

Q. Are there any special memories that you wish to share about your college experience?
I made some real close friends and umpteen fun-filled memories. After my Global MBA at SP Jain, I discovered that I was capable of so much more than I had given myself to believe.

It was incredible how we learnt to efficiently squeeze everything in just 24 hours. Assignment deadlines, midnight team meetings, college social events, late night parties, casino bets, early morning McDonalds breakfasts, and ALP & ARP meetings taught me a great deal about multi-tasking.

My best memories include making it to the Dean’s list & choreographing the SP Jain flash mob in Singapore.
