Graduating as a Better Version of Myself – My MGB Journey with SP Jain
|As I find myself jotting down my experiences from the past year, I realise how quickly time had passed by, and how unique my Master of Global Business (MGB) experience was at SP Jain School of Global Management. Before I joined the program, I had many tell me, “This will be the best one year of your life wherein you will learn a lot and graduate as a positively different person.” Not surprisingly, I began my MBA journey with a lot of hopes, ambitions, and expectations. Today, those hopes have become my realities and continue to help me step in the direction of my ambitions.
I worked as a Digital Marketing Executive at a media agency, and my reason behind joining this course was to help me progress in my career, enhance my personal development and communication, network with people globally and to know about different existing cultures. Getting into a tri-city global program increased my expectations and excitement, as I would be learning, first-hand, about the cultures and business practices of some of the world’s top business hubs – Singapore, Australia, and Dubai.
The first term was social and active. The first term of a college is when everyone wants to meet everyone and learn about the different perspectives others hold. During this term, we were introduced to the global learning activities, where we could explore the city with numerous outdoor activities and industry visits. I realised how different the cultures are in Singapore, Sydney and Dubai. With each term, I could see myself progressing and growing into a better version of myself. The best part of being in a learning environment like ours was that you did not need to know everything; you are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them.
The 1-year MGB program at SP Jain has been meticulously designed to maximise your personal development through constant exchange of perspectives with classmates and faculty. The career services at SP Jain greatly assisted me in enhancing my personal growth as well as communication skills. It also helped me prepare for my interviews. I remember the first week when our program started; we were asked to introduce ourselves in front of the cohort. I was so nervous! As months passed, having participated in many public speaking activities, I was able to improve my confidence and public speaking skills immensely.
I can’t end this note without a special mention to all our inspiring professors, without whom this 1-year journey wouldn’t have been even half as great. Our professors created an environment of enthusiasm for learning, appreciation for growing, and made room for making mistakes along the way. If you are joining SP Jain, be prepared to accomplish immensely through all the classes, outdoor activities, and projects – or whatever else you choose to dedicate your time to. It is upon you to decide what you want to achieve from this program.
During your time here, you will find batchmates, some of whom will become your friends and family for life. This is one of the most valuable assets you gain from this program. After a year of the program, I have come out as a more mature, energised and ambitious person who is ready to take on the challenges posed by the corporate world. This journey shall never be forgotten.
