From law to logistics: My global learning journey at SP Jain Global
If you’d told me a year ago that I’d be building a career in logistics instead of law, I would not have believed you. Looking back, I can honestly say that my MGB journey has been nothing short of a roller-coaster ride. Coming from a law background, stepping into the world of business, logistics and supply chain was a major career shift for me. Law taught me how to think critically, understand systems and look at situations from different perspectives. But MGB helped me take that thinking into a more practical business environment, where decisions are not only about what is right or wrong, but also about what is efficient, sustainable, scalable and responsible.
This transition was not always easy, but it was definitely worth it. I entered the program with curiosity, a passion for learning and a long-term dream of building something of my own someday. Over time, I realised that learning does not happen only inside classrooms. It happens through new cities, conversations, group projects, industry interactions, leadership roles and sometimes even through the smallest questions that make you curious about how the world works.
Learning across Singapore and Dubai
Studying and living across global campuses gave me a broader perspective on business, people, and adaptability. Singapore taught me discipline, structure, and efficiency. It made me observe how smoothly systems can function when there is planning and precision behind them. Dubai, on the other hand, exposed me to ambition, diversity, innovation and the speed at which global business ecosystems can grow. Both cities taught me that geography changes the way businesses operate, but the need to keep learning remains constant everywhere.
One of the biggest learnings from MGB came through interacting with people from different cultural, academic and professional backgrounds. Working with classmates, faculty and professionals taught me lessons in communication, patience, adaptability and leadership. I learned that leadership is not only about taking charge or leading from the front. It is also about listening, understanding different perspectives, collaborating with people.
During the course, I also had the opportunity to interact with CEOs, CFOs and several industry professionals, especially during business conclaves and campus events. These interactions helped me build confidence and understand how leaders think, communicate and make decisions. Being able to ask questions, hold conversations and learn directly from industry leaders was one of the most valuable parts of my learning experience.
Beyond academics, some of my most meaningful milestones came from the roles and responsibilities I took up on campus. As the Student Experience Ambassador, I had the opportunity to act as a bridge between my batch and the college. This role taught me ownership, responsibility, and the importance of representing student voices with maturity and clarity.
Another role that shaped me deeply was being the Editor-in-Chief of STRATBUZZ, the business club newsletter. Through STRATBUZZ, I got to work on ideas, content, themes, and stories that connected strategy with real business conversations. It gave me a platform to bring student perspectives together and present business learning in a more engaging way. This experience strengthened my ability to communicate, organise and lead creative academic initiatives.
Putting sustainability into action
Sustainability has also been a strong part of my time in the MGB program. As a member of the Sustainability Committee, I was part of SPJ Net Zero Thrive, organised under the Dubai Net Zero 2030 vision. I also had the opportunity to host the event, which made the experience even more special. Being involved in an initiative connected to net zero and responsible management helped me understand that sustainability is not just a concept we study, but something that requires action, awareness, and collective effort. I was also proud to be part of the Sustainability Committee when it was recognised as the winner of the 2026 Principles for Responsible Management Education initiative.
Learning beyond the classroom
One of my favourite memories outside academics was the sports tournament auction. As someone who has always connected strongly with sports, getting the chance to be the owner of a cricket team was exciting and memorable. The auction pushed me to think strategically, calculate quickly and make decisions within seconds. Owning the winning team made it even more special, but what stayed with me was the experience of decision-making under pressure.
As this journey comes closer to completion, I reflect on milestones such as my research project on sustainable fast fashion in India, my industry project on operational excellence and digital visibility, my role in STRAT-BUZZ, my contribution as Student Experience Ambassador, and my involvement in sustainability initiatives. Each of these experiences shaped me in a different way.
SP Jain Global’s MGB program has shaped me into someone who sees business, people and opportunities differently. It taught me that every decision requires knowledge, perspective and calculated risk. It also taught me that growth happens when you are willing to step out of your comfort zone and take ownership of opportunities that come your way.
From law to logistics: Looking ahead
Over the next few years, I aspire to work in an industry where sustainability, supply chain efficiency and responsible growth go hand in hand. My transformation from law to logistics has shown me that careers do not always have to follow a straight line. Sometimes, the most meaningful journeys are the ones that challenge you, change you and help you discover what you are truly capable of.
