Alumni Speak: Ankit Malhotra
Bringing in straight from our interaction with S P Jain’s esteemed alumnus of the GMBA’13 batch, Ankit Malhotra, shares a story from his time at S P Jain.
“With a work experience of 3 years at Accenture, I decided to pursue an MBA and opted for the GMBA program offered at S P Jain. My passion for marketing and business strategy motivated me to specialise in Contemporary Marketing Management”, pointed out Ankit when asked about the rationale for choosing an MBA degree. Currently based in Singapore, Ankit Malhotra is now a Senior Analyst – Business Development with Cognizant Technology Solutions Asia Pacific Pte Ltd.
Ankit spoke to us about how the course is modelled in a unique way, which is the tri-city program with exposure to 3 completely different and diverse cities. “A management student is not only expected to know the rules of business but also to comprehend the dynamics of working with people from diverse backgrounds. The 4-month semester in each country was just enough to settle, make friends, learn new things, and of course travel to new places. Just when it was time to move into the comfort zone we were moved to a new city with a complete new experience to look forward to”, added Ankit. He continued talking in depth about how the industry projects and internships too in each city exposed him to actual management of organisations, work trends in international markets that prepared him to step into the corporate world. “The Professional Readiness Program was very effective in shaping up my inter-personal skills and build my confidence for interviews during campus placements. The competence of my classmates motivated me to think different and work effectively in a cross cultural environment”, Ankit pointed out.
The 12- month course, Ankit highlighted, has enhanced him to adapt to different cultures, teaching methodologies, people and the professors—developing a strong network with people around the world. He moves on to talk a little bit more about the faculty he had the opportunity to interact with. “They brought in great in-depth industry experience. The case study methodology required us to brain storm and conceive innovative ideas of what would build & change organisations” he added.
In his short interaction with us, Ankit successfully included details of many different aspects of his experience. He also spoke a little bit about the Student Life committee that organised activities and excursions for students to learn more about the place, the people, and the culture. “Not to miss that each experience was planned effectively to introduce new cities and the culture of the society. While we were occupied with case studies and assignments SP Jain focussed deeply into student development”, Ankit compliments.
“By the end of the course, I could see a path to my vision. I could comprehend which job profiles would be in line with my career objectives and help me grow as an individual professionally and personally”, Ankit concluded.
What a pleasure it has been to hear such a successful experience from our alumnus. We wish Ankit the very best of luck for a efficacious career.
