Could you tell us about your academic and professional background?

I completed my Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, in 2002 and my Master of Business Administration in Operations & Marketing from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, in 2010, establishing a strong academic foundation. With over 19 years of experience in Project Management, Product Development, Pricing Strategies, Market & Competitive Analysis, and Operational Marketing, I have honed my skills. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with global clients in India and the Middle East, like Hindalco (Aditya Birla Group), Johnson and Johnson, and ARC Group. Currently, I head Marketing & Product Development department at ARC, where I oversee the MEAI region.

How did you decide to enrol in a DBA program at this stage in your career?

The ever-changing and dynamic customer behaviour has always fascinated me, and my passion for creating new products continues to drive me forward. Moreover, my yearning to deep-dive into the nitty gritty of operational and strategic business challenges through scientific research-driven solutions led me to enrol in the DBA program. Exploring solutions to specific research challenges seem quite motivating to me. I aspire to acquire the requisite skills that align with technological advancements, enabling me to advance my future career while contributing to the existing body of knowledge.

In essence, my decision to pursue a DBA program at this stage in my career stems from a burning desire to advance while continuously embracing the ever-evolving landscape of business and technology.  

Why did you choose to pursue SP Jain Global’s DBA program?

After thoroughly examining doctoral programs offered by different business schools over the course of a few years, I ultimately opted for SP Jain Global’s Doctor of Business Administration. Among the various options available, this particular program stood out to me due to its highly competitive curriculum, emphasis on scientific problem-solving approaches, helpful faculty members (whose assistance I can now vouch for after completing the core course), the institution’s reputation, and the added privilege of being able to study flexibly while working. 

What was the admission and interview process like?

The interview process was exciting as it took me through my academic and professional years. It prompted me to reflect upon and discuss my past projects and assignments, highlighting the positive impact of my decisions and illustrating how these experiences have contributed to my personal and professional growth. Following the interview process, the admission procedure proceeded smoothly and efficiently.

Who is your mentor, and how are they helping you with your research and thesis? Several faculty members provided their support throughout the course modules. Among others, my mentor for the research and thesis phase, the Dean, Dr Seetharaman, played a crucial role in guiding us through this process, offering his valuable insights and expertise. Dr Seetharaman has consistently made himself accessible to us, ensuring his availability whenever we require his guidance or assistance.

How do you think this program will help with your professional growth?

So far, the core course has prepared me to address the challenges from a new perspective. Additionally, the tools and methodologies I have acquired during the program are helping me provide effective solutions for day-to-day business challenges through a scientific approach. As a result, I expect to improve and learn new skills that will contribute to my ongoing professional development.  I am excited about the opportunities for growth that this program will provide, and I am eager to continue expanding my skill set to thrive professionally.

What do you plan to do after graduation? After completing my DBA program at SP Jain Global, I intend to continue with my research, delving deeper into my area of expertise. I am also enthusiastic about remaining engaged in academia, and by actively participating in knowledge-sharing initiatives, I am committed to continuously enhancing my understanding through learning and exploration.
