Pallavi Jajodia is the founder of Arva Innovations Pvt Ltd—a startup committed to sustainability. Having over six years of work experience, Pallavi effortlessly blends business savvy with a passion for positive change. She has spent a significant portion of her career at Dollar Industries Ltd, leading the women’s garments segment and managing human resources. Her vast experience allowed her to develop a deep understanding of the industry dynamics and customer needs.

But how did the idea of Arva Innovations and bio-degradable edible cutlery strike Pallavi? Let’s find out the fascinating story behind her entrepreneurial journey.

What motivated you to choose SP Jain Global for your education?

I had heard a lot about the Global Family Managed Business program (GFMB) and how it shapes a person to grow within their family.  It also helps you understand the differences between the working style of a family business and the MNCs. So, GFMB was the right program for me as I was already working in my family business. Through GFMB I explored different aspects of the family business, which assisted me in strategising better.

What inspired you to establish Arva Innovations, and how did your vision for sustainability shape the company’s mission?

Today’s modern plastic-based lifestyle is destroying the earth beyond repair, not leaving it habitable for future generations. To combat such issues, I spent a lot of time researching how I could give back to the environment and hence launched eco-friendly, biodegradable, and edible cutlery under the brand name – Arva.

The motivation behind establishing Arva Innovations was clear – acknowledging the undeniable harm caused by plastic to our environment. The imperative is to actively minimise plastic waste, and one effective avenue is adopting eco-friendly alternatives. Imagine swapping out single-use plastic cutlery with something that not only benefits the environment but is also delicious.

Crafted from grains like rice, maize, and wheat, it’s not just a sustainable choice; it’s the future. Arva Innovations proudly leads the charge in producing these innovative solutions.

Could you elaborate on your involvement in philanthropy, including supporting cancer patients and your engagement with various NGOs?

My commitment to philanthropy extends through various avenues. One of them is the Dollar Foundation, under which I introduced a plog run in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, promoting environmental awareness and showcasing my active engagement in social causes. I also support cancer patients through donations. Additionally, I actively participate in an NGO in Tirupur, where I channel both time and resources towards impactful social causes.

These philanthropic efforts garnered recognition, with a feature in the prestigious international magazine Forbes, highlighting not just Dollar’s success but also our innovative contributions to the community.

How have your multicultural experiences, being born in Kolkata and raised in Tirupur, shaped your worldview and ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds?

For me, it’s not just about Kolkata and Tirupur. I have vast experience in meeting people of various diversities across India. I worked with people from all over India while being associated with Dollar Industries Ltd. Understanding the nuances of different cultures has broadened my perspective and enhanced my ability to connect with individuals from various backgrounds. It has helped me approach every business interaction with a heightened sense of cultural awareness and adaptability.

What are your future goals for Arva Innovations, especially in terms of sustainability and innovation?

At Arva Innovations, our future goals revolve around commitment to sustainability and innovation. We believe in giving back to the world, not just to the planet, but also to the people of the planet. Tomorrow is all about bio-degradable materials, which will make the earth a better place to live.

Arva’s major goal is to eradicate the use of single-use non-biodegradable cutlery. To achieve this mission, we offer an extensive range of eco-friendly products, including straws, plates, spoons, forks, cups, and bowls.
