Tanmay Singhania - SP Jain MGB

“The decision to pursue a management program happened just a month before I enrolled at SP Jain. Without a CAT score in my hand, I was looking for opportunities in B-schools that would provide me with a quality faculty, globally-inspired curriculum, and industry-relevant projects. That’s when I was introduced to SP Jain School of Global Management from an alumnus-cum-friend.

Since the classes had moved online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was not quite sure initially about how effective the learning would be. However, as we progressed, the commitment and proactive support that was shown by the faculty and authorities, particularly the Engaged Learning Online (ELO) technology solution at hand, and regular conducting of townhalls to keep us updated, eliminated those concerns.

It was after a gap of nearly 4 years that I entered student life again. I looked forward to being an active member of the student body and this college gave me the right opportunities. I led the Global Learning and Student Life Committee in the first trimester, where I organised and hosted a quiz competition for the Mumbai batch, won an intra-campus debate competition and helped coordinate in multiple industry guest sessions.

In the subsequent trimesters, I got the opportunity to head the placement committee which was a very enriching experience in itself. Helping students address their placement-related concerns, guiding them through the shortlisting and interview process, providing them insights about the industry and just being a motivator for them, helped bring out the leader in me.

In terms of academics, I must accept that the greatest value was gained from the Student Board Room aka SBR assignments. It not only provided us with an opportunity to apply the knowledge we gained but sparked some highly intriguing and insightful discussions among the team members, which in effect opened multiple corridors of thought.

I remember International Business Strategy, my favourite simulation-based course at SP Jain. The kind of discussions we had on almost every business vertical, with everyone bringing their keen mindset created wonders for our strategy devised during every session, enabling us to remain the top-scoring team throughout. All in all, I managed to remain in the top 5 of the batch through all the trimesters, which certainly wouldn’t have been possible without the right team effort of my batchmates.

Besides this, the academic and industrial projects were equally beneficial, and I must thank my mentor, Dr Ritu Srivastav, for being wonderfully supportive in both the projects, be it professionally or personally.

SP Jain has rewarded me with much more than I ever expected. Considering the course went online and I wasn’t based in Mumbai, I was not sure of the depth of friendships I would form with my batch mates. However, to my fortune, I made some of the best friendships in SP Jain. These friendships have helped me grow a lot as a person, brought in great positivity and helped me value relationships even more. This has aided me and continues to aid me immensely in almost every sphere.

Currently being in the internship phase, as I introspect through retrospect, I feel grateful for this beautiful journey and thank every one of my faculties, the Corporate Relations Team, Program Managers, and all my batchmates for their contribution. I certainly look forward to being an active alumnus for SP Jain School of Global Management.”
