NEVER TOO LATE TO INVEST IN YOURSELF – MANU MITTAL’S (EMBA INTAKE OF 2021) STORY
With over 18 years of experience in Corporate & Business Management, Project Management, and Key Account handling for OEM Sales in Japan and Overseas Markets, Manu Mittal (EMBA Intake of 2021) is a highly detail-oriented person with exceptional management and organisational skills.
Over his years of corporate experience, Manu gained deep knowledge of Japan’s work culture and business practices, helping create two successful joint ventures between Japanese and Indian companies.
With such a rich global experience, how did the SP Jain Executive MBA help Manu in his career? We caught up with him to find out.
Q. What are some of your fondest memories from the SP Jain EMBA?
Finance was my most dreaded subject, and I still can not believe that I chose finance as an elective in the Executive MBA program. I want to thank Prof Manek Mukesh, Dr Arindam Banerjee, Dr Vanita Bhoola, Prof Narayanaswamy, and Prof Madhavan for igniting the spark in me to deepen my knowledge in finance-related subjects.
Q. What was it like studying with peers from diverse backgrounds?
My peers helped me by giving me insights into diverse fields of Finance, Operations, and Strategies.
While concentrating on brushing on my known subjects like sales and marketing, my peers and classmates taught me how to connect sales with other topics like finance and operations. I was able to build a more holistic approach to strategic thinking.
Q. Where do you see yourself a few years down the line?
As I move along in my career, I see myself leading in a senior management profile in my company
Q. What advice would you like to give our future EMBA graduates embarking on a similar journey? How can they make the best of this opportunity?
It is never too late. I started my learning journey after 18 years of post-graduation, but it was a gratifying experience.
I was able to revisit my earlier education and imbibed myself with new knowledge. With my learnings from the program, I could even progress in my career to a Fortune 500 Company.
The SP Jain EMBA is highly engaging and strenuous, which is the key to our success. We must manage ourselves and our stakeholders and deliver tasks by creating a high value-add for all partners.
